We embrace and develop the Mission of the Synod on Synodality and the Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry in the USA as we celebrate the Jubilee Year in Communion, Solidarity, and Hope. Let us ask: How must formation for ministry evolve to meet the needs of multicultural communities and activate this vision of the Church?

Four Panelists  (Sr. Norma Pimentel, Dr. Emilce Cuda, Dr. Javier Orozco, and Fr. Sergio Rivas) will present their hope and vision for Hispanic Ministry in the USA at the conclusion of the Synod on Synodality and the Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry, as we look forward to the Jubilee Year on Hope, Spes non Confundit. Following the panel, we will facilitate small group discussions and a summary plenary on what we’ve heard and discerned together.

The event includes lunch and concludes with mass at 3pm. Parking in the garage on campus will be validated.

Many incredible people helped to shape the Institute of Pastoral Studies throughout the last 60 years. Please join us to remember and honor some of these individuals who have transitioned into the arms of their creator and whose legacies remained imprinted on IPS. We will host a prayer service followed by a luncheon or reception.

Honoring Norma Pimentel, MJ

We are delighted to celebrate Sr. Norma Pimentel (IPS MAPC, ‘94) and present to her the 2025 IPS Aggiornamento Award, honoring her extraordinary accomplishments in service of the mission of the Church. We will also announce a new scholarship initiative in her honor, about which we are very excited. The event will begin with a reception at 5:30pm and continue with dinner and the award program at 6:00pm.

IPS is partnering with the National Association for Lay Ministry (NALM) to a host a 3-day conference on the future of lay ministry. Plenary and breakout sessions will attend to the history and the present moment of lay ministry in the Catholic Church and then turn to the future. We will look especially at the USCCB‘s “Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord,” published 20 years ago, and ask, “What will the shape of lay ministry be in the future and how can we contribute collectively to an update to this document?”
