Memory and Hope

On November 21, a panel of experts discussed the impact of the Jesuit mission on higher education, recalling the role of Central American University 25 years ago in El Salvador and the hope it inspired. The panel addressed how the prophetic witness of that Jesuit University might be incarnated in other Jesuit universities.

Professor Emeritus Peter Gilmour is the 2014 Aggiormento Award winner for the Institute of Pastoral Studies at Loyola University Chicago. Gilmour has been involved in IPS since the program began in 1964, and recounts on his experiences in IPS and his time at Loyola.
