About
Lauren Schwer, D.Min., joined the IPS Adjunct Faculty in 2021. She has taught Ignatian Spirituality for the Spiritual Exercises, Introduction to Spiritual Praxis, Spiritual Direction Development and Praxis, and an internship in spiritual direction.
Lauren is a trained educator, dedicated minister, and experienced spiritual director. Her primary role at the university is the Director of Ignatian Spirituality, where she focuses on the spiritual formation of faculty and staff, as well as inviting faculty and staff to see themselves as animators of the university’s mission. This work is done through coordinating The Spiritual Exercises for students, faculty, and staff; teaching the All Things Ignatian staff seminar; providing mission-based work in the Athletic Department; facilitating a variety of retreats, and offering a variety of consultation and programmatic opportunities.
Having taught at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate levels, Lauren’s passion for teaching continues at IPS. She has taught a variety of internships focused on spiritual direction and the Spiritual Exercises out of the Jesuit community at Loyola. She is also the co-author of My Life in God’s Project, a modern adaptation of the 19th annotation of the Spiritual Exercises.
