January 2019 Human Resources Updates

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Human Resources is pleased to provide updates and announce new programs and services for our Loyola community. Please review the information below to learn more about diversity listening sessions that are in progress, our upcoming MLK Celebration, opportunities to improve your health and wellness, and more.

Diversity Listening Sessions
The Diversity and Inclusion Climate Survey Listening Sessions are in progress. Participants have provided useful feedback and input to date. These sessions will continue in January and February for faculty, staff, and students across Loyola, providing an opportunity for participants to make suggestions to foster and sustain a diverse, inclusive, and equitable University experience for everyone. We will share invitations to participate in the near future and encourage you to RSVP and attend.

MLK Celebration: Addressing Disparity through Awareness, Advocacy, and Action
You are invited to attend the upcoming MLK Celebration events taking place during the week of January 21 on all three Chicagoland campuses. Please sign up to volunteer at one of the 11 MLK Service Day locations.

Earn Incentives for Healthy Habits and Participation in Wellness Activities
The 2019 Wellness Program offers incentives to help you reach optimal health. Earn quarterly Wellness Rewards—bonus money in your paychecks for every quarter that you complete the requirements. You can earn up to $300 annually ($75 per quarter) if you earn 125 points per quarter. The Wellness Program is open to all benefit-eligible employees, even if you do not have health insurance through Loyola.

Register for the Go Move Challenge
The Seventh Annual Go Move Challenge is set to begin! This year, 24 Jesuit institutions will compete to determine which University is the most active. The challenge runs from February 1 through February 28. Every minute of intentional, physical movement counts in this challenge! The first 50 participants to reach and track 500 minutes will win a special prize. In addition, the Loyola department averaging the most minutes of activity will win a healthy prize. To participate, please register for the challenge online.

Form 1095-C
The IRS requires employers to provide employees with Form 1095-C, which may accompany W-2s for tax purposes. The 2018 statement will be distributed to employees no later than March 4, 2019, for those who were covered under a Loyola health insurance plan in 2018. You may elect to receive your Form 1095-C statement electronically. Please visit our website for details on how to receive your statement online.

Training and Development
To promote continual learning and improvement and as part of the University’s comprehensive benefits package, Loyola works with several campus partners and vendors to provide faculty and staff with free personal and professional development training resources. For example, during fall 2018, 21 EMERGE classes were held at the lakeside and Maywood campuses. In addition, approximately 200 Skillsoft on-demand courses were available in support of knowledge expansion and professional development. We encourage you to stay tuned as we will announce additional opportunities, including the spring 2019 EMERGE calendar, in the near future.
