About

Cassandra (Cassy) Firkins is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined the Wellness Center in June 2024.  She received her Master of Social Work from Indiana University.  Cassy has over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, program administrator and crisis worker in a variety of settings including nonprofit community mental health centers, foster care agencies, group private practices and hospitals. She has experience providing individual, couple, family and group therapy to people across the lifespan.  
Cassy has overseen a number of programs including outpatient psychotherapy, crisis mental health support as well as gender-based violence prevention and support.  She is a certified Mental Health First Aid instructor who has provided mental health outreach and education to community members.  Additionally, Cassy has experience providing reflective clinical supervision and training for clinical staff and student interns.  She has specialized training working with people who have chronic mental health challenges, individuals and families impacted by trauma and helping people adapt to parenthood.  Cassy's therapeutic approach is an integrative perspective grounded in contemporary self-psychology, family systems and attachment theory.  She approaches her work with curiosity, humility and compassion, aiming to help people feel seen, heard and understood.
