Sister Ann Ida Gannon, BVM Receives Prestigious Newberry Award

At age 95 Sister Ann Ida was honored by the Newberry Library in Chicago with the Umanità Award, in recognition of her long and distinguished service to the study of the humanities, to higher education, and to the Newberry itself. She is one of Chicago's most renowned educators and has dedicated herself to furthering knowledge. She was President of Mundelein College from 1957- 1975, and a Life Trustee of the Newberry Library. 

This event celebrated the launch of the Sister Ann Ida Gannon Initiative to catalog, preserve and provide access to early modern religious books and manuscripts at the Newberry Library.
