Ross Scherer (1922-1999) was a Professor of Sociology at Loyola University Chicago from 1966-1991, a valued member of the Department of Sociology and a nationally prominent scholar of American Religion. 

The original collection for this library was donated by his wife, Doris Scherer, in his memory.
