Teaching Effectiveness Seminar

The Teaching Effectiveness Seminar is required for all funded students who are going to be teachers of record for the first time. This seminar is in addition to departmental pedagogical training programs. The TES is designed to build upon that foundation and provide more pedagogical depth to students as they move along the path of doctoral preparation.

Loyola's TES grows out of a larger movement in doctoral education to deepen students' teaching experience, expand their pedagogical repertoire, and provide them with professional support. These programs, supported nationally by organizations such as the Council of Graduate Schools, the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the Carnegie Institution, and the National Science Foundation, offer doctoral students a range of layered experiences that combine departmental and university-wide initiatives. Students receive transcript notations indicating the completion of such training programs.
