The Follett Family Impact at Loyola
The Follett family has helped shape both the progress of education and the growth of family business education.
The Follett Funds for Family Business Education, the Follett Fellowship in Storytelling, and the Follett Collection at Loyola Library will become a lasting source of pride for both Loyola University Chicago and your family—assuring a legacy for the Follett family story.
The Follett Funds for Family Business Education
The Follett Funds for Family Business Education will expand FBC’s focus with specialized undergraduate and graduate courses in family business, further elevating the Center as a national destination for teaching and research in the field.
Quinlan’s Family Business Center, one of the first in the US, is already a leader in serving middle-market, multigenerational family enterprises, grounded in Loyola’s philosophy that purpose and performance are inextricably linked. New courses will extend this expertise to better serve a region known as a cradle of family businesses.
The Follett Fellowship
The Follett Fellowship will document and popularize stories of influential family companies, beginning with Follett itself. The Follett Fellowship will create a more expansive gateway to knowledge—as Follett itself has done over generations.
Building on Quinlan pioneers in business research like John L. Ward, Bud Murdoch, Drew Mendoza, and Andrew Keyt, experts in storytelling at Quinlan such as Linda Tuncay Zayer and Jenna Drenten will use the fellowship to broadcast an understanding of the power of family business in America.
The Follett Collection
The Follett Collection will provide documentation of a business important to American education and business history.
Archival protection in Loyola’s climate-controlled facility provides opportunities for Follett family members, business leaders, and scholars to access and research manuscripts and documents of historical import, such as the Cuneo Family papers, the Michalak Collection of 19th century British caricature, and the People’s Gas Light and Coke archive.
The Follett Family has a longstanding and beautiful tradition of partnership with Loyola’s Family Business Center through active participation in FBC conferences and programs; assistance with our Follett annual meetings, business education, and tailored family solutions; and partnership in developing a broader family business community network.
Unless otherwise stated, gifts will equally fund the Follett legacy at Loyola: the Follett Funds for Family Business Education, Follett Fellowship for Storytelling and Follett Collection at Loyola Library.
