The Magis Scholarship, an SGLC initiative, was created to help finance the education of undocumented undergraduate students at Loyola University Chicago. To help increase Magis' funds, a fundraiser for t-shirts, hoodies and long-sleeved tees will be running for the rest of the semester. The merchandise is manufactured by Homeboy Industries- a company that makes an intentional effort to employ and provide resources for former gang-members and previously incarcerated men and women. President Mariana Chavez released a statement to the student body on behalf of the SGLC community on January 26th. She emphasized her desire to use OSCCR's decision as an opportunity for growth. We have a continued commitment for SGLC to be a vehicle for servant leadership.
SGLC holds weekly senate meetings to address all things Loyola: discussing new legislation, inviting guest speakers from all departments on campus, and hearing students' ideas and concerns. These are held every Tuesday at 4pm, and are open to the public.
