Goals & Learning Outcomes

Registered Student Organizations’ Goals

1. Registered Student Organizations will work to support the mission, vision, and promise of Loyola University Chicago and Student Activities & Greek Affairs; as a result, organizations will provide the student population with opportunities to connect, learn, and engage outside of the classroom.

2. Registered Student Organizations will serve as a resource for Loyola University Chicago students to explore and support not only their own identities, values, and interests, but also to promote a wide-variety of identities, values, and interests; as a result, students will have the opportunity to develop self awareness and an appreciation of difference across cultures.

3.  Registered Student Organizations will provide the Loyola University Chicago student population with a series of diverse, engaging, and thought-provoking programs and events designed to stimulate the campus community through cultural/ethnic, intellectual, philanthropic, recreational, service, social, and spiritual exploration; as a result, organizations will contribute to the betterment of the Loyola University Chicago community.

4. Registered Student Organizations will provide a variety of leadership opportunities for the Loyola University Chicago student population; as a result, students will have the opportunity to learn and to identify and live experiences designed to support the development of effective leadership skills including; ethical decision making, communication skills, problem solving, civic responsibility, conflict resolution, time management, and organizational development.

Learning Outcomes for Registered Student Organization Members

Students involved with RSOs will have the opportunity to…

1. Develop self awareness and an appreciation of difference across cultures. (Goal 1 & 2)
2. Develop healthy relationships and work through conflict. (Goal 4)
3. Recognize opportunities for making responsible, reflective decisions about and for both themselves and their organization. (Goal 4)
4. Develop the ability to balance both academic and non-academic pursuits, increase vocational competency, and create a holistic collegiate experience. (Goals 1, 3, 4)

Learning Outcomes for Registered Student Organization Student Leaders

Actively engaged RSO Student leaders will be able to …

1. Enact Loyola University Chicago and SAGA policies and procedures. (Goals 1 & 4)
2. Lead with an understanding of human difference. (Goals 2 & 4)
3. Make responsible, reflective decisions about and for both themselves and their organization. (Goal 4)
4. Identify what they are learning in the classroom and how it connects to their co-curricular
    activities and future life experiences. (Goals 1 & 4)
5. Demonstrate leadership skills including ethical decision making, communication skills, problem solving, civic responsibility, conflict resolution, time management, and organizational development. (Goal 4)
6. Apply best practices related to organization sustainability and stability. (Goal 4)

Learning Outcomes for Registered Student Organization Advisors

Actively engaged RSO advisors will be able to …

1. Identify SAGA and RSO policies and procedures related to RSOs.
2. Discover best practices in student organization advising.
3. Establish seamless learning environments for the Loyola University Chicago student population.
