What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola? The dedication to the mission by faculty, staff, and students. I truly believe that Loyola provides excellence in education, but a big part of that is that all these groups go beyond just doing their jobs, teaching the subject, or going through the motions. The Jesuit mission is a living part of what we do. I feel we provide the best of knowledge and action, and by reflecting on both continually strive to become better than we once were.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee? Bring recognized by a student on their acknowledgement slide for a master’s presentation. It’s humbling to think I was included with people like family and faculty who are so involved in a student’s time at Loyola.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you? It goes back to the favorite thing question. I really feel we live out the quote that says, “Without knowledge, action is useless, and knowledge without action is futile.” I feel we do our best to provide both knowledge and the means to apply it.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day? My family, especially my children. While I love working for Loyola, my vocation is being a father. Providing physically, emotionally, and spiritually for my children is #1.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride. My “I love Jesuits Tshirt”
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you. I’m 50% Guatemalan and most of the family I had growing up still lives there.
