What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
While I can’t possibly select one favorite thing, I will narrow it down to three: my wonderful advisees who inspire me daily, my hard-working and supportive colleagues, and the beautiful campus which I am lucky to call my workplace.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
One year ago, I created the first application for the Study Abroad Student Advisory Committee (SASAC) – an advisory board made up of ten study abroad returnees. The committee was created to empower study abroad alumni and strengthen the voice of the students in OIP decision-making. Since the application was created, we have had nearly 100 SASAC applicants, and 20 fabulous committee members. It has been so rewarding to be present while these students brainstormed ways to positively impact the study abroad experience for future Ramblers.
What does Loyola’s mission mean to you?
It means that my quest for social justice, global understanding, and an educated awareness of self and society is never quite complete. Continuous learning is very important to me, and it is something that I aim to keep at the center of each interaction I have at Loyola.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
My daily goal is to support our students to the best of my ability. I keep this in mind when it comes time to go the extra mile, stay the extra hour, and ask the extra questions. It’s important to me that my advisees know I care and that I have their best interests at heart.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride:
I’m not only an employee of Loyola, but also a proud alumna. You’ll often find me speaking with prospective graduate students about my experience in the International Higher Education program, snapping pictures with Lu Wolf, or listening to Loyola’s favorite Jesuit rapper, Mike Martinez, S.J.!
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
I have completed the Chicago Marathon, and four half-marathons. I hope to run a marathon abroad, someday.
