What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
My favorite thing is the community of students, staff, faculty, and the institution’s mission. My co-workers in Residence Life and DSD are especially fabulous, and they make coming to work an absolute pleasure.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
In summer 2017, I coordinated the replacement of Mertz Hall’s student room furniture. As part of that project, I worked with the Reuse Network to ensure that all of the old furniture was collected and donated to several Habitat for Humanity projects. In total, 103 tons of furniture were donated and saved from a landfill.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
In this moment in America, Loyola’s commitment to social responsibility and justice are an anchor to me. I really appreciate the diversity of our community, and what Loyola University Chicago does to cultivate a sense of justice and service to others in our student body.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
My husband and daughter are certainly my primary motivation, but I also have a deeply-instilled work ethic that originates from a blue-collar upbringing and being a first-generation college student.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride.
I show my Rambler pride by encouraging it in the next generation. My daughter, Finley, has just started at Loyola’s preschool, and she loves wearing her Loyola shirt. I hope that she will be a future Loyola freshman in the year 2032.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
Though I work in the area of student housing operations, my master’s degree is in writing and rhetoric. I have almost 10 years of experience teaching first-year writing as an adjunct, and I have also taught a course at DePaul called “Haunted Chicago,” in the Explore Chicago program.
