What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
I love the fact that I’ve practically grown up at Loyola. I started off as a grad student 10 years ago and shortly after graduating became a Staff Member. It has been a learning experience from day one, and it shaped me both professionally and privately, through numerous amazing projects, challenges and, of course, colleagues.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
Making a difference in the everyday lives of students, faculty and staff. I wear many hats in both ITS and Campus Safety. I am behind the scenes assisting in programs that impact every single person in the university. I prefer making a difference every day, regardless of how little it may be. As a result, getting an e-mail from a colleague or a big thank you from a retiring co-worker is what I consider to be my great achievements that make me motivated to keep up the good work.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
To never stop learning and seek out knowledge at every turn. Learning is one of the most important aspects of one’s life. Loyola’s mission supports exactly that, and gives all these young people the amazing possibility to become knowledgeable human beings by expanding their views and empowering their spirit. Being a part of that is priceless.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
Leading by example of passion for excellence to all the future generations that will make this world a better place. But most of all, my 3.5 year old daughter, who reminds me every day that the best way to live life is with a smile on your face. I hope she will see my motivation and dedication and grow up into a strong woman and a passionate individual herself.
Tell us how you show your Rambler pride.
The fact that half of my family in Europe has Loyola/Rambler gear and that I take my daughter to Rambler games says a lot. I have a big family, so imagine how many walking advertisements we have, running around Europe and talking about this amazing place.
Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
Almost everyone knows I am Serbian, but not many people know that I came to the US (alone) when I was only 16 to pursue my education. I landed in Montezuma, New Mexico (United World College), Waterville, Maine (Colby College) and last (but not least), Chicago and Loyola. I just became an American citizen in 2014, actually.
