What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
Being around students who keep you feeling young, and watching them really grow into themselves in their time here. It is always great to hear from an ex-student worker who has found their way in the world. Having never lived very far from Chicago myself, Loyola has been a great place to meet individuals from all different places throughout the world. Being part of such a diverse and culturally rich environment has taught me more than I ever could have imagined before working here.
What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
Being blessed to be a small part of the Enrollment Management Division, it is very exciting to see the whole division work cohesively to reach and often exceed enrollment goals each year. I owe any success I have in my duties to my hard working staff who are critical in completing applications and financial aid packages. It is also exciting to see how advanced the technology has gotten in my time here. When I started we would receive 10 tubs of incoming mail per day, and now we are down to one or two large tubs on the busiest day of the year. The ability to receive admission applications and financial aid documentation electronically has greatly helped reduce the carbon footprint of the University.
What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
My wife and I have a newborn son, and Loyola's mission parallels how we will be raising him. We certainly hope to give him all of the necessary tools that he needs to lead an extraordinary life.
What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
Being raised in a large Irish Catholic family, my parents and siblings have taught me to always remain humble, work unselfishly, and work as hard as you can at whatever it is that you are doing.
Tell us how you show your Rambler Pride.
Having recently moved to "the burbs", I have met a lot of families with high school aged kids. I try to do my best to get them interested in coming to Loyola for a visit, and hopefully applying to attend here. My wife is also a high school teacher and has written many recommendations for students from her school that apply to Loyola for undergraduate admission.
Tell us something that most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.
I am happily married to a descendant of John Tyler, the 10th president of the United States of America. We have a rocking chair in our house that is said to have once been in the White House. Also, In the early 2000's while working part time for a catering company, I was tasked with serving the late Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, at the Chicago Cultural Center during a private event.
