STEP Accepting Applications for Second Cohort

Loyola University Chicago's School of Social Work is thrilled to announce a second $45,000 grant from the Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County to train English and Spanish speaking social work supervisors in northern Lake County. The Supervision Training and Education Program (STEP) is a collaborative effort with Adelphi University's Social Work Practice Fellows Program (SWPF). The second cohort will begin February 7, 2025.

The grant will be used to build the skills and competencies at healthcare and social service agencies/organizations using best practice supervision. Licensed Clinical Social Workers will be given priority when applying, but clinical supervisors in social service agencies are also eligible.

About the Program

STEP-SWPF provides an intensive learning experience for supervisors over the course of 9 weeks for a total of 36 Continuing Education hours. Programming is partially in-person located at the University Center of Lake County: 1200 University Center Drive, Grayslake, IL, 60030. Other meetings will take place over Zoom. Training will focus on:

  1. Advancing skills in individual and group supervision
  2. Supervision to advance knowledge of mental health and substance use challenges impacting individuals and families across the life course
  3. Trauma-informed supervision through a social justice lens
  4. Teaching and Implementing Self Care and Professional Resilience
  5. Supervision to advance knowledge of health challenges impacting individuals and families across the life course
  6. Reaching assessment and planning skills in work with individuals and families
  7. Furthering supervisors’ capacity to address performance and organizational challenges
