This course provides an introduction to the core concepts of international relations. We will examine the major theoretical perspectives that attempt to explain a variety of international political phenomena at the three main levels of analysis: system, state, and individual. We will then put these theories into practice, using them to analyze major events in international relations in the 20th and 21st centuries. By the end of the course, students will possess the conceptual tools necessary to interpret historical and current issues, conflicts, and trends in the international system. This course is an option in the "Societal and Cultural Knowledge" section of the core curriculum.
