School of Law graduates get ready to set the world on fire

On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the School of Law celebrated its 458 graduates during the commencement 2024 ceremony in Gentile Arena. Dean Michèle Alexandre greeted the audience members, and the keynote speaker was Lauren Cherry (JD ’10), a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, a White House Fellow, and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center.

The student speaker was Abigail Magat, president of Loyola’s Student Bar Association. “Remember that leadership doesn’t change where you stand; it changes how you walk,” Magat said. “I hope that these three years have prepared you to walk into your own impossible.”

“You shine bright. Your excellence, resilience, and determination inspire us,” Dean Michèle Alexandre said. “You will lead the legal profession and society to new heights. We are confident that you will carry out Loyola’s mission in service to your community, your country and the world.”
