Professor Huggins to Speak at Loyola on Racial Justice and Activism

Ericka Huggins, a professor of Sociology, human rights activist, and a former leader of the Black Panther Party will speak at Loyola University Chicago on Friday, March 20th, 2015.  Her lecture will be from 6:30-8:30pm on Loyola's Lakeshore Campus, 1032 W. Sheridan Rd. Chicago, IL Life Science Building 142, Auditorium.

Professor Huggins' lecture is organized by the Loyola undergraduate students of the Chicagoland Coalition for Minority Advancement, under advisement of Loyola History Professor Dr. Kim Searcy.

Professor Huggins' 14 years in the leadership of the Black Panther Party and three decades of activism give her a unique perspective on the debated history of the party and movements for racial justice.  She draws from her extraordinary life experiences to speak on the physical and emotional well-being of women and children, youth, incarceration, education, and the role of spiritual practice in sustaining activism and promoting change.
