Exploring the Philosophies of Malcolm X

Have you always wondered what Malcolm X was all about?  Well, now is your chance to find out more!  Fifty years after his death, Malcolm X is still inspiring individuals all around the world in their fight for human rights.  Loyola's own Dr. Kim Searcy will speak about the life of Malcolm X, arguably one of the greatest philosophers of the 20th century, and the legacy he left.  Join us on Monday, February 17 at 7:30 pm in McCormick Lounge (Coffey Hall) for this informative talk.

Professor Kim Searcy teaches courses on Islam, Islam in East Africa, African history, slavery in Muslim Africa, and Islam in the African American experience.  Dr. Searcy has written extensively on the Sudan and the historical impact of African slavery in the Sudan.  His current research examines the Muslim Brotherhood in northern Africa, specifically comparing the evolution of the Brotherhood in Egypt and the Sudan in the second half of the twentieth century.
