Deadlines Soon for Undergraduate and Graduate Contests

Deadlines are fast approaching for this year's essay and blogging contests!  The History Department is hosting three contests this year.

Essay Contests:

The Undergraduate History Essay Contest, sponsored by the Department of History, gives undergraduate students the opportunity to gain recognition for excellence in their writing. Students whose entries are judged to merit awards by the History Department faculty will be eligible for cash prizes: 1st prize, $250; 2nd prize, $200; 3rd prize, $150. Seniors will be recognized at the Awards Program for  the College of Arts and Sciences.  Click here ‌for contest rules and further information. Deadline: March 11, 2014.

The McCluggage Essay Contest, sponsored by the Department of History, gives graduate students the opportunity to gain recognition for excellence in their writing. Students whose entries are judged to merit awards by the History Department faculty will be eligible for cash prizes.  Each year's winner will be engraved on a plaque to be hung in the Department. Blogging Contest:

The History Blogging Contest, sponsored by the Department of History, gives undergraduate students the opportunity to gain recognition for excellence. Students whose entries are judged to merit awards by the History Department faculty will be eligible for cash prizes: 1st prize, $150; 2nd prize, $100. Seniors will be recognized at the Awards Program for the College of Arts and Sciences. Click here for contest rules and information. Deadline: March 11, 2014.
