Tyler Carrington
Tyler Carrington received his MA in History at Loyola University Chicago in 2008. He went on to complete his PhD, also in History, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
His book, Love at Last Sight: Dating, Intimacy, and Risk in Turn-of-the-Century Berlin is set to be published in early 2019 by Oxford University Press. It examines the risks and rewards of modern dating in the modern metropolis, structured around the murder investigation and trial of a young woman, Frieda Kliem, who was killed in the Falkenhagener forest when rendesvousing with a man she met via a newspaper personal ad. Tyler’s LUC education set him up well for his academic journey - he took Dr. Timothy Gilfoyle’s History of Sexuality course at Loyola, and his former professors here describe him as bright and celebrate his success.
Tyler is enjoying his job as a professor at Cornell College in Mt Vernon, IA, alongside his wife and their new baby.
