flowe@luc.edu
Wind Ensemble is comprised of 50-60 members, and provides an opportunity for students from a variety of majors and playing levels to perform in a college band. Performing two concerts per semester, Wind Ensemble plays works such as: traditional transcriptions & marches (Wagner & Rossini); concert band classics (Holst & Grainger); contemporary works for winds (Mackey & Colgrass); and works for chamber ensembles (Gounod, Gabrieli, & Strauss). Conducted by Dr. Frederick Lowe, Wind Ensemble is a one-credit course that counts toward the Artistic Knowledge and Experience requirement of the Core Curriculum, and also fulfills the Public Performance component of the Engaged Learning requirement.
Membership in Wind Ensemble is open to all students who have played in high school band. Auditions are held the first two days of each semester, and determine enrollment and chair placement. Audition information, as well as online audition sign-up, is available at the following Website: http://blogs.luc.edu/artsalive/portfolio/music-auditions/
