School year comes to a close -Student Move out

Each year, more than 4,500 students move out of residence halls at the University’s Lake Shore and Water Tower Campuses. Nearly 3,000 other students who rent private apartments also prepare for their summer trip home or, if they are lucky, abroad.

Students typically move out after their last final exam. Final exams begin Monday, April 27 and end Saturday, May 2.

In preparation for the mass exodus, they University takes some important steps to make sure this activity has the least amount of impact to our neighbors.

Lake Shore Campus Move-out Dates and Parking Restrictions
By enforcing parking restrictions, Loyola keeps streets clear for easy and fast loading, without double parking or creating additional traffic congestion. We have worked with our local Alderman and stakeholders to develop a plan that is least impactful.

Parking

Neighbors should be aware of “no parking” zones as stated above and avoid parking in these areas during the scheduled days. City of Chicago will ticket and tow cars that remain parked during the designated days and times.

Safety and Security

In an effort to alleviate any congestion and prevent students and their families from parking on private property, campus police officers will be on hand at the following intersections to ensure compliance and a streamlined move-out process:

Rosemont and Kenmore
Sheridan and Northshore

Additionally, residence halls will be beefed up with additional trash receptacles. In partnership with Streets and Sanitation, alleys will be swept clean for debris and trash pick-ups will be increased during this very hectic week.
