Being a Johnson scholar means having the opportunity to explore something I am passionate about through multiple lenses. Additionally, it gives me a platform to open a dialogue about women's contributions to artistic and cultural production. The ability to conceptualize, research, design, and install an exhibition at this stage is my career is a fantastic opportunity. Putting the exhibition together gave me experience with many different facets of museum work and allowed me to narrow my interests in the field, which is very valuable insight to have as an undergraduate student. Working closely with objects from the collection really gave me an appreciation for different cultural aesthetics and for the care that is taken in producing what might seem like everyday items. When I see the textiles, I am still taken aback by the amount of time, sense of design, and skill that is necessary to weave them.
