Working in Volunteer Relations [at Catholic Charities], I do a lot of behind the scenes work. I work on every aspect of a volunteer's experience from processing their application, to directing them to certain work sites, and tracking their hours. I also get a chance to meet those who volunteer at the Tuesday night suppers when I work alongside them. Additionally, I am highly involved in Catholic Charities Celebration of Giving program, which provides necessities and gifts for Christmas to approximately 600 families and an additional 6000 children in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The work that I do allows Catholic Charities to directly serve Chicagoan's in need and teaches me what is involved in managing a non-for-profit organization.
