PEP is a program for adults with disabilities who have behavioral challenges. About 30 residents attend PEP and engage in many different activities, including art and music therapy, yoga, swimming, gardening, preparing lunch, attending mass, learning communication skills, and helping in the community. My favorite part of this internship is interacting with the residents and building positive, meaningful relationships with them. I also work on projects to implement around PEP, such as creating a chore chart for the residents. PEP stands for social justice for these adults by teaching them the skills they need to be active and effective in many different aspects of their lives, and it is truly a gratifying experience to be a part of that.
