Major
Nursing

My international service-learning experiences in both Panama and Ghana were two of the greatest experiences of my life. After going to Panama in January of 2013, I knew that I would have to go back on another Global Brigade trip. So, I went to Ghana in August of 2013 and fell in love all over again. While in both places, I was reassured that nursing was the exact profession calling for me. In fact, I have never been so sure of anything in my life. The skills I learned while on my brigades, such as triaging, working with people, and stepping outside of my comfort zone, were skills that I will need for the rest of my life. Furthermore, both trips opened my eyes to the many healthcare disparities around the world, and thus make me want to continue going on trips like these even after graduating.

Right now, my future plans include doing well in school this semester, leading a volunteer group with Loyola4Chicago, working on UNICEF’s E-Board, and applying to be a leader for a Global Brigade trip next summer!
