He has multiple publications, currently serves on a research project in the Department of Sociology examining medical education, and has presented both scholarly and applied work at a range of national conferences. Dr. Johnson derives reward from the design and delivery of coursework at the college level. He is a member of the faculty of the Department of Sociology as an adjunct instructor.  He has also served on the faculty of the School of Environmental Sustainability.  He has designed and taught sections of UNIV 101, UNIV 102, SOCL 281, and RMTD 400 at Loyola, and English 125 at the University of Michigan.

Dr Johnson returned to Career Services  in January 2022 in the role of Associate Director. Here he supports major programming and initiatives, contributes to the capacity for one-on-one advising and group advising, and leads educational development efforts.  Dr. Johnson describes himself as student centered, and paraphrasing Frederick Buechner, finds health exploration advising to be a place where his deep joy and the needs of others meaningfully intersect.
