The Jesuit community of Loyola invites all 1st-year students who are graduates of Catholic high schools -- for ice cream and root beer floats. We'll be hosting you at our house, Ignatius House, which is right next to de Nobili and just across from SES. We'd love to meet you and hang out.

New Student Convocation is a celebration of university life and the academic traditions of Loyola University Chicago. Convocation is an annual tradition where all new students (first-year and transfer) officially begin their academic careers as Ramblers.

Experience Chicago's iconic sights with Big Bus Tours! Join us in the open-top sightseeing bus, which grants you exceptional views of the city's most iconic landmarks and attractions with commentary. 

* Tickets are required for this event. Head to the Center for Student Engagement, located in Damen Student Center Suite 127 across from the Damen Cinema from 10 AM-4 PM Monday, August 21 to Friday, August 25. Tickets are first-come, first-served. Tickets are available for the 6:00 PM tour -OR- 8:30 PM tour.

UPass Pick-up
Time: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Location: DSC Atrium

The U-Pass is an all-inclusive transit card that allows full-time students to ride the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) buses and trains for an unlimited amount of time throughout the academic year. Using CTA is a great way to navigate Chicago, as well as a great way to get to and from the Lakeshore and Water Tower Campuses. First-year students can pick up their U-Passes during the first weekend before classes start

Join Community Service and Action for Saturday of Service! Spend the morning serving and building community with nonprofits around campus as part of this Welcome Week tradition. Explore your new neighborhood and meet other new Loyola students. T-shirts for the first 250 participants and lunch for all! Start your service journey at Loyola before classes even begin. Doors open at 9:30 am; the event starts at 10 am and wraps up by 2pm.

After picking up your U-Pass, join Welcome Week Leaders on excursions around Chicago to find YOUR Chicago. Each trip will visit a different area of the city. All trips are free; however, some food and shopping may be available at your own expense.

Hustle to Hoyne (Men's Soccer Game)

Hustle to Hoyne is the first athletic event of the year. Join the men's soccer team as they kick off the season against Lindenwood University. The day will start with a pre-game pep rally at St. Ignatius Plaza (outside De Nobili Hall), with a free shirt for the first 500 students. The Band of Wolves and the Loyola Spirit teams will lead the walk from campus to Loyola Soccer Park. Tickets are free for all students and this is a great way to meet new people and cheer on the Ramblers! 

3 p.m. - 5 p.m. | Choir Rehearsal for Mass of the Holy Spirit | Madonna della Strada Chapel

All students are invited to sing for the Mass of the Holy Spirit at 5 PM in Madonna della Strada Chapel. There are no auditions; just come on out ready to sing and have a good time. All music will be supplied. Note, rehearsal goes up to the start of Mass.

Advocating for social justice and promoting positive change in the world begins with knowing your rights here at Loyola, within your own school and community. Do you know what classes/identities are protected from discrimination at Loyola? How to make a report of sexual harassment? Can you identify what a microaggression is and how to intervene if you experience or witness one? Join the Office for Equity & Compliance (OEC) for a fun take on an important topic, test your knowledge to win Rambler gear and other prizes, and learn how to ensure your rights to a safe and inclusive student experience are always protected.

The Welcome Black Reception was established to provide an opportunity for students, staff, faculty, and alumni to gather and commemorate Black excellence as they commence the upcoming academic year. The objective is to facilitate the connection of all Black students with the available resources on LUC campuses, including Black student organizations, faculty, and staff, at the onset of the academic year.
