Jim Perenti, EdD
Jim Parenti, EdD, serves as Dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Loyola University Chicago.
Prior to Loyola, Parenti served as Senior Advisor to the President of Georgetown University. Parenti joined Georgetown in 2008 and served in a variety of leadership roles including Senior Associate Dean and Chief Administrative Officer of The School of Continuing Studies, Dean of the Georgetown Global Education Institute, and Associate Dean of The Semester in Washington Program.
During his time at Georgetown, Parenti helped manage the university’s response to COVID, the coordination of two Jesuit Mission Priority Examens, and the development of custom education programs with organizations including The National Press Club, The U.S. Office of Personnel Management, The U.S. Department of Defense and POLITICO.
In addition to his Georgetown experience, Parenti previously served as the Senior Associate Dean and Chief Administrative Officer at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. In this role, Parenti managed key administrative operations, strategic school-wide initiatives, and enrollment management efforts at SIPA, the largest and most diverse school of international affairs in the United States.
Prior to working in higher education, Parenti served in a variety of senior roles in government including as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, as Press Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor in the administration of Illinois Governor Jim Edgar, and as Director of Communications for the Mayor of Syracuse, N.Y.
Parenti has also served as a steering committee member of The Jesuit Friends and Alumni Network of Washington D.C., has managed educational programs with Cristo Rey schools, and is a member of Alpha Sigma Nu.
A graduate of Baldwin Wallace University, Parenti holds a Master’s Degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media and Integrated Marketing Communications, and earned his doctorate from the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University.
