Working With Us

The UMC website's tools, templates, and guides are designed for self-service and can help fulfill many of your marketing communications needs.

For projects that rise to the institutional level for UMC engagement, here's how the process works:

  1. Initiate a request to work with UMC. If you aren't sure if your project fits criteria for UMC collaboration, please contact our office. If you work within a school or the Division of Student Development, please reach out to your UMC Marcom team member as a first step.
  2. Begin strategic work. UMC will guide a strategic approach, beginning with identification of project goals and deliverables.
  3. Produce a creative brief or scope of work. This document serves as the project road map. It identifies your project’s audience, objectives, and success metrics. It outlines what must be accomplished when and by whom. It notes available resources and assets that might prove helpful. Our team will guide you in creating this important document to ensure a clear plan with smooth development.
  4. Execute and implement. Following the approved strategic approach, it’s time to act. Each phase of the project will have clear responsibilities and deliverables to be accomplished by designated dates.
  5. Evaluate. Once complete, each project should include an evaluation process to gauge its success, including necessary tweaks or revisions to increase impact. Here again, UMC will continue to lend support, leveraging expertise, data, and trends to assess enhancements to this project or inform future efforts.
