Media and Public Relations

The UMC Media and Public Relations team serves as the liaisons between members of the media and Loyola University Chicago. We generate publicity and awareness around Loyola news and events. This includes proactively pitching stories, coordinating interviews with the media, and training faculty and staff in how to effectively engage with the media.

Media Inquiries

While members of the news media might first contact UMC to request assistance in speaking with a member of the faculty, staff, or administration, they might also contact personnel directly. UMC encourages you to respond to requests from the media regarding your research, scholarship, and/or professional expertise.

If, however, you would like the assistance of UMC Media and Public Relations in response to a media inquiry, please contact the department at 312.915.6324 before agreeing to an interview. Please provide your deadline, topic, media outlet, and the best way to reach you, so we can be a responsive partner.

Please note: All external media inquiries and requests to film or photograph on campus should be directed to UMC’s Media and Public Relations team. This includes requests for interviews with the University's faculty, staff, and students.

Proactive Media Outreach

If faculty, staff, or administrators are interested in getting help with generating media coverage about a program, event, or achievement, they are encouraged to contact UMC’s Media and Public Relations team for assistance. The team will work with faculty, staff, and administrators to coordinate publicity or visibility for programs, events, or newsworthy issues.

Media Training

The UMC Media and Public Relations team provides media training to help prepare faculty, staff, and administrators for interactions with the media. If you are interested in setting up a session, please contact a member of our team.

Crisis Management

In the unfortunate event of a crisis on campus, UMC’s Media and Public Relations team alerts and updates the Loyola community.
