The LUC SSOM's Chapter of the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) understands and is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities of abiding by Loyola University Chicago policies. In extension of the purpose of the National APSA Chapter, the mission of the LUC APSA Chapter is the following:
The LUC APSA Chapter seeks to enhance the careers of physician-scientists by providing professional development resources, creating networking opportunities, and leveraging Loyola’s strong ties to the local community for impactful engagement.
More specifically, the LUC APSA Chapter will assist its members in:
- Acquiring a better understanding of medical research and related principles.
- Meeting, networking with, and building collaborative relationships with other aspiring physician-scientists in training.
- Acquiring knowledge and skills necessary to advance in their careers.
- Interacting with experienced and successful physician-scientists.
- Providing vertical mentorship to those at a less advanced stage in their training.
- Understanding the challenges, pitfalls, and opportunities in the training and career of a physician-scientist.
Understanding that the LUC APSA Chapter's constitution may periodically conflict with the requirements and mission of LUC, we agree that anytime there is a conflict, the requirements and policies of LUC will take precedence.
