SSW Awarded $65,000 for MSW Scholarships from Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County

The Healthcare Foundation of Northern Lake County (HFNLC) awarded Loyola's School of Social Work a $65,000 grant to assist MSW students residing in Lake County.
The needs-based scholarships are available to students admitted into any MSW program, including advanced standing programs, online programs, and the online bilingual program. The amount awarded, however, will vary depending on the program the student is enrolled in, with most awards between $3,500 and $10,000 for their first year of MSW studies. These scholarships are stackable with other internal admission awards from the School of Social Work.
"These mechanisms are so critical to incentivize students to focus their work on healthcare and the growing demand for healthcare services in Lake County; this funding is a win-win for Loyola, the students, and the healthcare agencies," said Dean Patricia Findley.
This grant is in addition to another grant awarded to the School of Social Work by the HFNLC, which provides training for social work supervisors in Lake County free of charge through the STEP/SWPF program. Both grants were awarded in hopes of addressing a shortage of social workers and growing demand for their services in the area.
Students may apply for a scholarship once they are admitted to an MSW program. Please contact Assistant Director of Partnerships and Pathways Pamela Nigh (pnigh@luc.edu) for more information on the scholarships and application process.
