New Emergency System in Place
September 12, 2017
Loyola Community,
Over the summer, the University installed new lockdown hardware in all class and meeting rooms on the Lake Shore, Water Tower, and Health Sciences campuses.
In the event of an emergency on campus that requires students, faculty, or staff to seek shelter, these new devices allow you to hide safely inside a room by securing the doorway and obstructing any outside access. The hardware has proven effective, sturdy, and easy to use, and we encourage you to familiarize yourself using these brief instructions.
In conjunction with Loyola’s commitment to develop initiatives to become a university that is among the safest urban campuses, these devices augment the safeguards Campus Safety already has in place and further fortify the safety of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
If you have any questions, please contact Campus Safety at 773.508.SAFE.
Sincerely,
Thomas K. Murray
Director of Campus Safety and Chief of Police
