Crime Alert - Armed Robbery near Chicago Red Line Station

Campus Safety is writing to notify you about an armed robbery that occurred around 4:30 a.m. this morning near the Water Tower Campus.
A Loyola student exited the CTA Chicago Red Line station and was approached by a man who implied that he had a weapon and demanded money. The student withdrew money from a nearby ATM and gave his cellphone to the offender before the offender fled the scene.
Please keep the following safety tips in mind:
- It is important to report crimes and suspicious behavior to the police as soon as possible. Contact Campus Safety at 773.508.SAFE or the Chicago Police Department via 9-1-1 or 312.744.8263.
- Avoid traveling alone late at night. If you are alone, consider taking a cab to your destination.
- Investigative follow-up will be dependent on the amount of detail a person can recall. It is important to remember as many identifying characteristics about the offender(s) as possible. This can include physical characteristics of the person, their clothing, any weapons used, direction of flight, etc.
