Unauthorized Access to Regis Hall
November 20, 2014
Regis Hall Community,
We are writing to inform you of an unauthorized entry to Regis Hall that was reported to Residence Life and Campus Safety staff. An individual unaffiliated with Loyola bypassed the security desk, entered Regis Hall, and proceeded to a residential floor. Thanks to the assistance of an observant Regis Hall community member, the unauthorized individual was escorted from the building. Campus Safety personnel interviewed the unauthorized individual, which ultimately led to his arrest for criminal trespass to property.
Please follow these safety tips for the residence halls:
- Always lock your door whenever you leave your room
- Do not lend your room key or ID to anyone
- Always escort your guests and only check-in people you know
- Everyone must swipe their ID to gain access to residence halls – do not hold gates or doors for others to gain access
- Report all suspicious persons and activities to Campus Safety and Residence Life staff immediately
If you have any questions, please email Cass Coughlin, director of Residence Life, at ccough2@luc.edu, or Campus Safety at asksafety@luc.edu.
Sincerely,
Tom Murray
Chief of Police and Director of Campus Safety
