Crime Alert: Robbery on the Loyola Red Line Platform
Loyola Community,
On Saturday morning, around 3:30 a.m., an individual who was armed with a sawed-off shotgun reportedly robbed several passengers at the Loyola Red Line station, according to the Chicago Police Department (CPD) and a report on the Chicago Sun-Times media wire.
Per the reports, the suspect was standing on the platform at the Loyola Red Line station when he pulled the sawed-off shotgun out of a back pack and began demanding cell phones from people. According to the CPD, the suspect got away with six phones, including some smartphones. No one was injured in the robbery.
Police were able to recover surveillance images of the suspect and the shotgun has been recovered. The CPD reports that an accomplice to the crime has been arrested and the suspect in the case has been identified (though not arrested at this time).
