Conducting Research

Students conduct their research, especially any field of experiential research, in Rome and a destination in East Asia. The Ricci director, a faculty member, or other staff person will be available at the John Felice Rome Center, and the destination in East Asia as the on-site Ricci Scholar Program liaison and will assist students with program seminar meetings, local contacts, and research support. Two research papers are produced as “West” in fall and “East” in spring. The final redaction of their paper, thesis, or portfolio must be completed during the fall semester of senior year.

Students successfully completing the research project will give a presentation at the URES (Weekend of Excellence) at Loyola University Chicago during their senior spring semester. Students who successfully complete all aspects of the program will have a special designation as Ricci Scholars at graduation. Senior Ricci Scholars are expected to provide advice and support to sophomore Ricci applicants and awardees.
