The School of Law’s recent momentum is matched by progress across the University.
Following is a snapshot of the latest Loyola news.
Dalai Lama visits Loyola
Loyola partnered with the TIBETcenter of Chicago, a
not-for-profit Tibetan arts and culture organization,
in welcoming His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama
April 26 at the Lake Shore Campus. The Dalai Lama
was awarded an honorary degree and addressed
the Loyola community on the topic of interfaith
collaboration, as well as giving a talk on the topic
of nonviolence.
New sculpture at LSC
A new sculpture,
Los Lobos de Loyola
by Mexican
artist C. Francisco“Pancho”Cardenas Martinez,
was installed at the Lake Shore Campus in March.
The artwork, which celebrates generosity, pays
homage to St. Ignatius of Loyola. The sculpture
will be temporarily displayed in the plaza between
Dumbach Hall and Cudahy Science Hall until it
moves to theWest Quad lawn between Cudahy
Science and the Halas Sports Center. University
President and CEO Michael J. Garanzini, S.J.,
commissioned the sculpture after he saw a similar
statue at the Ibero-American University, a Jesuit
school in Mexico City.
