Employee Self-Service

The Employee Self-Service portal allows employees to view and update the following information with Human Resources on their own. Please note the below list is not exhaustive. Access the ESS portal at https://ess.luc.edu — we recommend that you bookmark this URL. Use your Loyola email address and password to log into ESS.

  • Important Note - Employee Self-Service (ESS) portal is compatible with Chrome and Safari internet browsers.

  • View current benefits
  • Complete new hire and annual benefits enrollment
  • View leave balances
  • View paystubs
  • View your W-2/1095-C forms
  • Change your address
  • Change your direct deposit
    • This allows employees to add or change their direct deposit information on their own. Employees can choose to set up to five different direct deposit accounts.
    • This allows employees to update their federal W-4 tax withholding information on their own.
  • Change your federal tax withholding

View Your Current Benefits

To view your current benefits (current plans and coverage), select "Current Benefits" from the Employee Self-Service portal menu.

Complete New Hire & Annual Benefit Enrollments

To complete new hire and annual benefit enrollments, select "New Hire Enrollment" or "Annual Enrollment" from the Employee Self-Service menu. 

  • New hires may select to enroll in benefits within the first 31 days from adjusted hire date.

View Your Leave Balances

From the Employee Self-Service menu, select Leave Balances in order to view your paid time off accruals.

View and Print Your Paystubs

To view and print your paystubs, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select Pay Checks and select whichever pay date you need.

  • If you need to print a paystub, click on the “Printable Pay Stub” link within that specific pay date, and a new window will open with a printable version of your pay stub

View Your W-2 & 1095-C Documents Electronically

To elect to receive your W-2 & 1095-C documents electronically, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select "W-2s/1095-C." Continue through the instructions to consent to receiving your W-2 and then 1095-C document in an electronic format. **Please repeat this authorization process for each form, as consent has to be given individually for each form. Once consent is granted for each form, it carries forward each year and does not need to be repeated.

Change Your Address

To change your address, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select "Change of Address." Enter your new address and click “update.”  If you receive the below error. Please try updating your information on a subsequent day.

  • Error: Access denied. A payroll cycle is currently in progress. Please try again later.

Change Your Direct Deposit

To access the the direct deposit change feature, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select "Direct Deposit."  This allows employees to add or change their direct deposit information on their own. Employees can choose to set up to five different direct deposit accounts.  If you receive the below error. Please try updating your information on a subsequent day.

  • Error: Access denied. A payroll cycle is currently in progress. Please try again later.

Change Your Federal Tax Withholding

To access the the federal tax withholding change feature, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select "federal tax withholding." This allows employees to update their federal W-4 tax withholding information on their own. If you receive the below error. Please try updating your information on a subsequent day.

  • Error: Access denied. A payroll cycle is currently in progress. Please try again later.

Payment Modeling

To access the Payment Modeling feature, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select "Payment Modeling." This function allows you to simulate changes to your wages, taxes and deductions to calculate the effects on your pay.

View and Edit Your Dependent Information

To view and edit your Dependent information, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select "Dependents."

  • This option allows you to add, edit, and view your dependent information.

View and Update Your Beneficiary Information

To view and update your beneficiary information, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select "Beneficiary."

  • This option allows you to add, change, and view your beneficiary information for life insurance only.

View Your Year-to-Date Income

To view your Year-to-Date Income, from the Employee Self-Service portal menu, select "Year to Date."

  • This option allows you to view your year-to-date pay, tax and deduction information.

Why is Employee Self-Service Non-Responsive?

If you experience “blank screens” when accessing Employee Self-Service, you will need to clear your browser cache and history.
