You should read your lab manual and handout to reacquaint yourself with the physical structure of a freshwater ecosystem, biotic and abiotic factors, the flow of energy through an ecosystem, and the potential negative effects of invasive species. Be able to measure the diversity of a community using the Simpson’s Index of Dominance and Index of Diversity and understand the relationship between these two measures.
