Digital collections are created as a courtesy to researchers and others in order to provide greater access to the collections at the Loyola University Chicago Archives & Special Collections. Digitized materials represent a small selection of the entire collection.
Copyright, Use and Take-Down Policies

Broad public access to collections is provided as a contribution to education and scholarship. Content in these collections is protected by the US Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C.). Use of these materials may also be subject to other legal rights such as publicity rights, privacy rights, other intellectual rights, etc.. Reproduction or transmission of materials protected by copyright beyond that allowed by fair use requires the written permission of the copyright owners. Additional permissions may be required as noted.

Use or reproduction of items from the Loyola University Chicago Digital Collections for commercial purposes is not authorized.
Digital Versions of Collection Items
Digital versions of collection items are made available under the following conditions: they are in the public domain; the rights are owned by Loyola University Chicago; Loyola University Chicago has received permission to make them available; materials are made accessible for education and research purposes under legal fair use; or there are no known restrictions on use.
Researchers should consult with the Loyola University Chicago Archives & Special Collections for information about rights and permissions. Responsibility for securing the necessary permissions rests with the persons wishing to use the item(s).
Take-Down Policy
Persons who have questions or who wish to contest the use of specific works may contact the Archives & Special Collections at archive@luc.edu.
Please include the following information in such communications:
- The reason for the request.
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed. Please include the URL for the item.
- Signature of the copyright owner (physical or electronic).
All correspondence will be answered within a reasonable time.
