Join us for "Preserving a Legacy: The League of Women for Community Service Archives & the Black Women's Club Movement," a talk from Dr. Johnnie Hamilton-Mason (Simmons University) who will situate the League, its founding, and mission within the broader Black women’s club movement of the early 20th century.

Remembering Mary Ann Smith

The WLA remembers former 48th Ward Alderman Mary Ann Smith, who passed away on July 31, 2024. In serving the 48th ward, Smith was dedicated to matters concerning economic and residential development, environmental issues, community outreach through education, traffic and transportation improvements, and expanding services to youth and the elderly.
