6364 N. Sheridan Rd.
Located in a centralized location on the Lakeshore campus (corner of Sheridan and Kenmore), BVM Hall houses approximately 114 residents. Residents enjoy easy access to all campus locations. Rooms contain modular furniture by RT London and feature bed that can be lofted. All floors (see appendix for floor plans) have one student lounge complete with cable TV, a kitchen and lounge furniture. The kitchens include a full stove, oven, and a sink. There is also a large kitchen on the 4th floor and extensive lounge space on the 11th floor. BVM hall will be used a residence hall for two years while we build new halls. There will be construction taking place on the lower levels and around the hall during those two years.
BVM Hall opened its door in 1959 to house Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary who were attending Mundelein College. Loyola purchased the Building in December 2010 to continue the ambitious goal of developing better facilities for students, staff and faculty at the University. In 2013 when San Francisco Hall opens, located immediately adjacent to BVM to the south, BVM will begin housing academic offices and classrooms. BVM Hall and San Francisco Hall will be connected and form the “Center for Urban Sustainable Living.” This complex, with its green house, café, bio-diesel lab and classrooms promises to lead the way on teaching Loyola students how to live sustainable lives in an urban setting.
