System Upgrade

Sakai 10

On Saturday, May 9th Loyola will be upgrading to Sakai 10. The system will be unavailable from approximately 6:00-9:00AM CDT. Faculty and students are not required to change anything. This latest release will provide many new enhancements and fixes to the learning management system. "What's New in Sakai 10" sessions will be held throughout the summer and early fall in a variety of dates, times and formats. A complete session schedule and instructions on how to register will be available in early May.

Response System

TopHat

TopHat is the new web-based response platform that Loyola will began using in the Fall . TopHat provides a way to receive instant feedback from your students using devices they already own to increase student engagement. There are seven different questions types, discussion boards and the ability to create polling tournaments. Instructors can receive reports on daily attendance, student participation and student performance.

New Password Reset System

Password Self-Service

In the coming weeks, the IT Help Desk is launching Password Self-Service, a new system that will allow students, faculty, and staff on the University network to reset their own network passwords quickly and independently. The tool will replace the existing Personal Account Manager (PAM) and eliminate the need to contact the ITS Help Desk when passwords are forgotten or accounts are locked. With Password Self-Service, users can set up a series of personalized challenge questions to be answered if a password or account issue arises. The text and alternate email address are other means to unlock or reset an account. You can choose to either use challenge questions, use text messaging, or use an alternate email account to proceed.
