- Collaborative Research Projects
CURL projects are developed with community-based organizations across metropolitan Chicago. The projects relate to a wide range of issues including: homelessness, welfare reform, hunger and nutrition, community health, safety, childcare, affordable housing, job training and placement and domestic violence.
- Gateways e-journal
Online electronic journal concerned with the practice and processes of community engagement. It provides a forum for academics, practitioners and community representatives to pursue issues and reflect on practices related to interactions between tertiary institutions and community organisations; academic interventions in community; community-based projects with links to the tertiary sector and community initiatives.

- Creating a Comprehensive Professional Development Plan for Early Child Care Providers
In 2003, the Center for Urban Research and Learning (CURL) began collaborating with 10 agency-sponsored childcare sites that serve over 2,000 children throughout low-income communities in Chicago.
