Minor in WSGS

Students must declare a minor in Women's Studies and Gender Studies via LOCUS and meet with the Program Director Dr. Betsy Jones Hemenway to outline their program.

Undergraduate Minor

A minor in the Women's Studies and Gender Studies Program consists of five courses (or 15 hours):

1. One (1) required course from either:

  • WSGS 101: Introduction to Women's Studies and Gender Studies or
  • WSGS 201: Contemporary Issues in Women's Studies and Gender Studies.

2. Four (4) electives from courses crosslisted with the WSGS program.

  • ENGL 283: Women in Literature
  • ENGL 306: Studies in Women Writers
  • ENGL 307: Feminism & Gender in Literature
  • FNAR 207: Women, Art, & Society

Below is an example of a WSGS minor course load while obtaining an undergrad Political Science degree:

  • WSGS 101: Introduction to WSGS 
  • PLSC 355: Women & Politics: A Cross-National Perspective
  • PLSC 394: Comparative Family Policy: Work & Family Reconciliation
  • PLSC 312: Feminist Theory 
  • PHIL 327: Liberalism & Feminism
